Cooking abroad: Beef and shrimp stew

Cooking abroad: Beef and shrimp stew

This week, I’m going to teach you how to cook a Portuguese stew with beef’s loin and shrimp.

Ideally the meat would be marinated in massa de pimentão, but as that can be hard to get outside of Portugal and Spain, we are going to season the meat with some paprika instead.

Ingredients

1,3Kg Beef loin;

50g butter;

300g frozen shrimp;

2 onions;

4 cloves of garlic;

7 potatoes;

300ml white wine;

½ bouillon;

Paprika;

Oregano;

Black pepper;

Olive oil;

Salt

Cooking

Cut the beef into little cubes and season it with the paprika, oregano, pepper and salt. Chop the onions and the garlic cloves.

Prepare the potatoes to be boiled or stewed in accordance to your liking

Put the olive oil in the pan with some medium heat. When the olive oil is hot, add the onion, garlic and bouillon. Leave it for 3 minutes, while occasionally stirring.

Add the meat and the white wine. Leave it for another 3 minutes, while occasionally stirring.

Add the shrimp and then the potatoes, cut into little cubes. Leave it for some 30 minutes, while occasionally stirring.

The dish should be ready after this, but make sure to taste it first so that you can see if it’s to your liking.

Enjoy!
